is my kenwood cd player broken?

i don't ever read this section so i'm sorry if this has been asked before.

i have a kenwood excelon x817 cd player that is about 4 yrs old. when i turn on my car the motorized face flips around, but the power doesn't. after about 3 sec the face opens up, but the cd doesn't come out. any ideas what i can check or is it done? i love this cd player and don't want to replace it if something just came disconnected somehow.

Ouch. Sounds like it toast man. If the face is moving, it's getting power. Not too much else it could be. Does the display light up at all? Nothing? I think you're out of luck man. :(

yeah nothing lights up. the motor is the only thing working on it, which i don't have control over.

did you check all the fuses on the kenwoods wiring harness? Some aftermarket headunits have the fuse built right into the back of the unit itself... but I'm sure you prob checked all that out, just a thought. I bet its toast.

make sure the gold contacts are clean and there is no crud there than can be blocking the electrical path.

Also on this one deck i had it would do the same thing, and i was stumped. On the radio it self it had these to connector things on each side of the radio where the face clicks in. Well it happen that those little connectors are where the face plate gets its ground from make sure those are clean also...
