this morning my dad and i went outside to install my amp and subs and we figured it would have been easy since the last owner had subs in there and 99% of people will leave all the wiring in the car. well, turns out the only things he left in there were two ground wires. he tore apart the entire car to get out $30 worth of wire. bastard. made my job a lot harder.

so after my dad and i messing around with some stuff we realized that instead of spending a lot of time and effort on installing them ourselves and doing all the wiring, we'd just look into professional installation. there's only one auto electronics place here that will install it, otherwise i'm gonna have to drive 40 minutes, which is fine but this one's the only really close one. but anyway... they said they'd install everything for $75 plus whatever it costs for wire. is this a good price or could i get it way cheaper? i'm just not sure if i'm getting ripped off because i'm used to doing this kind of stuff myself.

btw, if it matters they're two 12" subs and one 2-ch amp.

I would suggest just installing the wire yourself. Save yourself the $75.

It is real easy, it only takes a few screws on the bottom carpet molding and then the back hatch just pops right off and you can run the wires through the car very easily. Also, if the guy had wires in the car already, there will be a hole in the firewall for you that will help and save you a bunch of the time. I installed my wires and amp in about 30 minutes. I didnt mount my amp yet though.

*edit* also you will want to install the wires on opposite sides of the car. RCA and Remote wire on one side and the power cable on the other.

he might have done you a favor...... I've seen a lot of shady installations. at least you aren't just trusting that he routed the wiring correctly, and that it wouldn't ground out against the frame somewhere....
