quick ? about amps

well...i'm buying a MTX audio 10" sub and a 300 watt amp to push it off of my cousin.
he just bought two 12" audiobahns and an 1000 watt amp for that. he still has the 300 in his car and is using it to power the two 12's. i couldnt believe a 300 watt amp could push two 12's but it does anyway will it hurt my 300 watt amp to push two 12's. i dont know that much about stereo systems (obviously) so i really appreciate any input

i'm pretty sure it depends on the power of the subs too... my pioneer sub are 500watts each and they're 12" but there are some 10" subs that outpower them by far.
