  • I need help. Do I need a second amp?

Preparing to strip the interior. Lay down some B-Quiet over the entire interior.

I want to redo my sound system while installing my nitrous.

    Questions for you guys..
    AMP: Kenwood KAC-729S

    Specs:
    POWER RATINGS
    Bridged Power Output at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 300 Watts x 1
    Maximum Output Power: 600 Watts
    Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 150 Watts x 2
    Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.08% THD): 100 Watts x 2

Can I use this amp to run 1- 10" sub and my 4 component speakers.

Sub: 10" Sony Xplod 300W rms... 1100W Peak

    Components: 4- Sony Xplod.. 3-way... 6.5" speakers. 50W rms... 220W peak.

Will I need a second amp? I have a 1 Farad Lightning Audio Cap. The sub will be inside of a Subthump drivers side stealth box.

Use that amp to push the Sony Xplod components as its more of a class A/B amp.

Then go to a website like www.ikesound.com or www.ebay.com and look for something like a JBL 300.1 this is a class D amp which means it more efficient and i think with 2 amps you will be happier in the long run.

And use the cap for the amp thats pushing your subs.

Also keep in mind you want to look for amps that post power ratings at 12 volts or so. As in the real world you almost never see 14 volts.

      CAMAROWIDBASS...

Like I said.. I'm pretty new to this..

When wiring the components to the Kenwood amp. Do I just wire them + to + and - to - .. or do I need to bridge them or something.

      Thanks

Well you cant bridge speakers but you got the wiring right if you dont use this same amp for the sub then just simply + to + and - to - .

Then do the same for the other speaker but do it to channel 2 on the amp.

Set the amp to High pass crossover. Then you can use this guide to help you set the crossover.

        1. Subs: 20~100 Hz for low bass only
        2. Midbass: 80~200 Hz for drum and upper bass registers
        3. Midrange: 100~3,500 Hz for vocals, guitar, most piano and synth etc.
        4. Highs: 3,500 Hz and up for tweeters, mostly percussion and upper guitar, synth and lots of harmonics

Unless you can run your Sony speakers off the headunit, you will need to buy another amp....that is... unless you like your music in mono. Myself, along with the rest of the world, upgraded to stereo,what....100....200 years ago? :D Do as Camaro has suggested and by a small class D amp. The BP300.1 can be had for like $125 new. Then, for your Sony's, wire both left speakers to the left channel output on the Kenwood amp. All the positives together and all the negatives together. Same for the two right speakers.
