  • factory sub-different plugs??

I got a factory sub for my '94 to replace the one somebody removed but the plug in my car doesn't match the plug on the sub.It bolted up fine but it won't plug in.Did the factory subs change in later years? The plug on the sub has like 8 or 9 pins (don't remember) but the plug in the car only has 4 ( I think ).I know most people hate the bose sub but I'd like to get it working. I have a factory manual but it's for 94 and doesn't show the sub having that many wires. Anyone have a schematic for it? Thanks.

Are you sure the replacement sub you got is a "Bose" sub? It sounds like you may have a factory "Monsoon" sub which is different. The Monsoon subs are 6-3/4" dual-voice coil subs that use a 4-pin plug.

Not sure about that.I did look again. The sub says bose on it and it has 2 plugs. One is a 10 pin with 9 wires and the other is a 2 pin with one orange and one black wire.
The plug in the car is a 6 pin with 5 wires to it.
Obviously the sub I have wasn't meant for my car.
It did come from a camaro and is mounted in the space in the back left wheelwheel.Bolted up fine. Just cant figure out how to wire it. Maybe a later model camaro? Any help from an expert would be appreciated.

Does your car even have the "Bose" system? If not, that bose sub isn't going to work.

That plug you found way back in the hatch area...that "may" be the factory cd-changer plug. Do you know if you have the Monsoon system? Please give us more detail about what you have, we are in the dark....

According to the option sheet. My car came with the factory cd player and bose option. That appears to be the head unit, amplified door speakers, and the bose sub under the back left panel under the hatch.A previous owner pulled the head unit and sub.Not sure about the door speakers as I haven't pulled the panels. There apparently weren't any factory speakers installed in the passenger sail panels. Also the name "bose" is on the rear panel that covers the sub. I only found one 6 pin plug under that panel that must have been for the sub but it doesn't match the sub I aquired. This sub is a bose and must have came from a camaro or firebird as it bolts into place perfectly.BUT, it has 2 plugs. One 2 pin and another 10 pin.I can give you the wire colors if it will help. Thanks again.
