• Finally got an excuse to buy an optima red top

Got in my car last week to head to work at 7 in the morning and what do i hear? click click, a whole lot of nothing. i should have know it was comming. one day last week i started it up ,and it started fine but then it like completely shut off for like a millisecond and then continued running normally.

so i pulled it into the driveway(was going to vacum it out) and turned it off. when i did the fan lights on my manual fan switch came on and stayed on after the car was off and they werent switched on. i was like wtf? then i open the door and the ding ding sound that lets you know you still have the key in the ignition was going off in like slow motion. so i went to start it again and it wouldnt. so i let it sit for a sec and tried again and it fired right up, but the time on my hu reset along with all the other stuff. so i let it run for a little bit and it was fine for like a week or so then crapped out on me for good.

i paid 110 it at advanced auto. they look pretty sweet. it holds up a little better with the stereo too.

a yellow top will start your car over and over again. Ive had my yellow top for over a year as a main battery with no problem.

the yellow tops are deep cycle, you can keep running them down again and again. They are good for stereos.

they didnt have any yellows when i went to get mine. they were like 160 anyway, i didnt have that much money on me at the time. oh well.

This topic has been discussed once or twice on here. Search around and you'll find them I'm sure.

If you do not frequently play your system without the car running, you will not notice a difference between the red and yellow top.

i seen at a stereo comp one time this guy had a jetta with a red top as his primary and yellow as his secondary. he had this switch thing that when the car was on it would run off the red and when it was off it would run off the yellow. it would also charge only one at a time.
