My system got stolen and I need a new amp. The sub I have is 250w rms so I need a good amp around that amount of power. Money is an object, but I don't want to just go with something cheap, I want something good so I'll spend what I have to. So what are some brands/amps that you'd suggest or not suggest?

Well first off, what kind of sub? what size is it? DVC or SVC? 2 ohms, 4 ohms, 8 ohms what? how big is the box? what kind of sound do you want from this? answer that and I will point you in your derection, also try searching a bit, lots of good info here then, if you more questions ask.

i have a Phoenix Gold XS 2300 2ch. Amp that with the channels bridged will put out 300 watts. I have the same amp driving my 250w sub. It is tight and crisp, with power to spare. I'm trying to sell it right now, i'll give it to you for 175 plus shipping obo.

i should also tell you that Phoenix Gold is a very well-known company that makes everything you could think of for car audio. Their amplifiers make clean, and clear sound at all volume levels.

I needed a good but affordable amp and Crutchfield.com recommended the Profile amplifiers as they are nicely built, have good warranties, put out nice sound throughtout, and are very affordable. For 250W RMS I'd get the Profile AP600 amplifier (300Wx1 bridged @ 4 ohms) and just turn the gain down so you have the juice if needed but don't overdo it at the same time. The amp comes with MOSFET power supplies, variable filter, variable bass boost, and a 3 year warranty.

I got mine from ebay though new in the box and you could save some money too doing it the same way.

Profiles amps are affordable, but they're not reliable. Of the three that I've installed over the years, every one of them blew within the first 18 months of use.

I'd hope your ebay seller will honor your 3-year warranty, although I seriously doubt it. In the meantime, keep that gain down.

That Phoenix Gold amp that I posted earlier about is nothing but quality. I guarantee that you will be happy with the sound of it driving your sub.
