well i installed my amp for my components (front and back) the other day, and it seems the higher i turn the gain up on the amp, the more airy sound i get from the speakers, even when the volume on my headunit is all the way down to 0. also, when i tap the breaks, i hear a little faint click in the speakers. kind of annoying.

at first i thought it was bad RCA's, so i replaced them with some nice rockford fosgate ones, and still i have the problem. anyone know what it could be? or have this problem before? thanks.

grounding issue with the amp, try re-grounding it with a shorter ground strap and to a cleaner spot ... i.e. sand the paint off first.

also try to keep any power wires as far away from rcas and speaker wires.

where did you ground it to?

i used the nice big bolts that hold the rear seat belts on, works real good.

i put the amp in the cubby hole in the rear drivers side, so one of the bolts that holds the rear fender is holding the ground on.

all of the wires are together, that might have something to do with it. but why does the airy noise get louder when i hit the brakes, and there is that little pop when i hit the brakes. thats so weird. ill try rewiring some stuff tomorrow.

maybe its picking up some electrical noise for the tail lights coming on when you hit the brakes.

i would also try a different ground, or at least make sure the one you have is clean.

i ran speaker wires down one side of the car and power down the other.

what if i put wire loom around the power cable?

is it ok to have the RCA and speaker cables next to eachother?

wire loom wont really help you problem.

rcas and speaker wires are ok by each other, just cant be by power wire.

so its the power wire that cant be touching anything else? what about ground? im pretty sure my ground it ok, i regrounded it elsewhere and i had the same problem. how much space should i put between the power wire and the rca/speaker wires..?

david it seemed like i had that problem when i first installed my amp to my components, i faded it all the way to the back till i could mess with it bout a week later i faded it to front and it was almost gone, then i messed with it all that evening and ran a diff amp and made positively sure rcas werent close and no interference, i know thats not helping ya none but that was my problem, and then i rocked the 4004t, i will be doing a big install soon AGAIN!!!

i unhooked my RCA's completely from the amp and headunit and the noise is still there! not as loud, but still audible if you put your ear up to the tweeter. i tried 3 different ground places and still have the noise. help!

right now all that is plugged in is power, ground, remote, and speaker wires from amp to speakers.

get a meter and check what ohm load your getting at the end of the speaker wire before it gets to the amp.
