  • How would an aftermarket HU sound with mostly stock speakers?

I think the CDA-D852 CDA-D855 CDA-D857 are discontinued, but still up for sale online.

1)What is the diff between the 855 and 857?

2)How would the HU make the stock system sound?

Right now I have Polk components up frt and I added Infinity tweeters to the rear trunk.
I assume it will be clearer and more treble, but how would the bass sound?

no replies, I guess I'll have to buy the deck and see what happens. I'm also gonna put replacement 6.5 subs in the sailpanel. That is the limit of my mod for the stereo as I don't want to dump that much into it and I don't want an amp hanging around in the trunk.

Anyone know the diff between the CDA-D855 and CDA-D857? Obviously the 857 would have something over the 855, since it's a higher number.

Not much. I don't think the 855 supports RDS or CD Text if that's important to you.

when i bought my bird, the last owner had put in a sony xplod HU. it's a cheap one too. i think i've seen it in walmart for like $70. anyway... even with a cheap HU, there is a hell of a lot of bass. everyone thinks i have a system. when they ask "do you have a system" i just say, "yeah but it's not installed" (note: my subs and amp are in their boxes in my bedroom). so my car has only the 4speaker setup and they're all stock. it sounds really good though. pretty clear up to a certain level of volume and a lot of bass. and that's with a cheap xplod HU lol.
