By 2004 sub im talking about the Alpine Type X's, The ED v2.0's, The new Fosgate "stage" series, etc...

I dunno, but from looking at those Type X's, you'd need a box with a 2 foot mounting depth....hehe

        Matt,

I haven't had too many guys using the new subs much. A couple guys stated that they were using the new Rockfords. But nobody I've heard has tried the Type X. Probably because of what memphis said above. They are sooooo deep that they don't fit in most boxes. They just aren't practical for most purposes. I dunno what these manufactures are thinking when building subs that are 8,9,10 inches deep. Just dumb if you ask me. Not everybody drives a suv.

As for the eDs. The new ones aren't out yet. At least I haven't got mine yet. I have a pair of 13k v.2's on pre-order. From the specs, they look appealing. These are not the flat cone. They're back to using a more recognizable cone design so I hope it works out. But the pre-order sale was too tempting to pass up.

But other that the eD's nothing seems to appealing to me. All the manufactures are tyring too hard in the visual department if you ask me. They're trying to make them look cool or hip or whatever--hoping that's what will sell them. I've looked over the rockford specs they didn't impress me much. The stage 3 10 handles less power than the previous 10" HX2. And I see the stage 2 12s are 9 inches deep. Of course I've not heard them. But it seems like the only improvement is the asthetic aspects.
