what kind of prblems did you have?
did yours have the copper chassis?
and only works with exturnal amps right?
so far you are the only one that was not satisfied. well with all electronics its just the luck of the draw.

It is a preout only deck. Here is the list of problems i have with mine:

does not accept cd's when it is cold
does not read cdrs
take a while to read normal cds
skips a lot
volume buttons stick
I was also having some other problems that i can't think of relating the buttons. Oh yea, the clock does not keep accurate time either. But it sounds awsome when it works right.

I think Eclipse decks look CLEAN! Alpine is nice, but I am not interested in all the looks as far as my car goes. It is clean most of the time is all I can say about it. But same for stereos, why have a fancy LOOKING deck, if it sounds like crap? Eclipse decks do look nice, have a lot of features, and complete control of the entire system. And I have never had a problem seeing my deck's display in the sunlihgt...Whereas a lot of other decks have poor displays that you must shade from sun to see numbers.

i have a kenwood x717. i love it. the x717, x817, and the x917 are very nice models i think. they all look great and have a lot of control over the sound. if you want the best head unit. get the 3000$ alpine head unit. i believe it requires a labtop to use. it has like something over 100 different equalizer's to use. its supposed to be the most amazing head unit ever.
eclipse's are also very nice.

I have had a lot of luck with JVC. Had an old camelon in my black 94 and it looked goood until the little clip on the bottom broke and wouldn't open anymore. Other than that JVC has never given me a problem.

I have a Kenwood KDC-9017 and I haven't had any problems with it. I also have the Kenwood 4042 EQ installed right above the HU in the CAMARO emblem cavity. It fits just right but you have to pull the emblem out and carefully cut out the center piece and the EQ fits right behind the opening. I wish I had pics to share 'cuz my Kenwood pieces look and sound GREAT!!!And of course, my BF owns a car audio shop so I have a boomin' system!

I also have the pioneer one with the racecar thing but its actually the premier series one, have no idea what the difference is.

think its the deh-p9300 model

it sounds great, and has tons of features. and it looks pretty so thats where my vote goes.

Another vote for kenwood excelon. Had mine 2-3 years HEAVY USE, nevr cleaned or removed, not a single problem. (I got it when excelon was still new) i think. I recommend it highly!
