ok so maybe my alternator isnt dead??

i went outside a few minutes ago and put a voltmeter on my battery and it was reading 12.56 volts car off, then i started the car, volts jump to 14.4 then level at 13.93 a minute or two later..

no more problem. WHAT THE HECK? any ideas? haha.

i dont know what the issue was, matt thought maybe i had a lose wire or something.. but i dont know. just a temporary random loss in voltage that is unexplainable!

Check all your cables for sure... I mean check them for corrosiona as well my 3.4L I had a hell of an issue with voltage problems Then one autocross I had no alternator, made it home on the battery.

Picked up a new alternator came home went to install it saw the cable on the back of the alternator was corroded and "broke" off. I rigged up a $5 battery cable from the alternator to the harness, and everything worked fine, had the same alterator for 3 more years.

Of all the "big parts that break on a car" I'd choose a rear end.
