• Blew a voice coil.....

Ok i have one Audiobahn Alum12v Subwoofer (12" duh).

Powered by a concept 1200watt amp.

The speakers PEAK power is 1000watts....my silly self turned the amp up to 50% power...cranked the volume and "CRACKLE"

I heard it...wanted to punch myself for being so naive!

Well my speaker is under warranty, BUT will take weeks to get back in stock in S.Florida.

The shop i bought it from suggested i just pay $30 more and get the next best 12" from audiobahn. It doesnt LOOK as cool (plain ol' dust cap style) BUT i has 200more watts.

    Anyone got suggestions?

Id stick with the ones you got...ive got the same ones. Im totally in LOVE with mine. I like the Performance and the Way they look. I get more compliments on the way they look more then how they sound.

b/c of the box AND amp im using it hits harder than 3 really good 10's.

Thing about getting another one of my old one is....i'll be waiting forever! they are on backorder. The model above mine is in stock for only 30$ more.

I say for for the one above it! That way when you do the same thing as before you won't blow it...hopefully anyways. Besides the extra power handing headroom is always good when your amp is too powerful for your sub.

Hello, here's the deal I had 2 of the ALUM10's a while back, I was pushin with a rockford 800a2, I blew 4 of the bastards then audiobahn sent me 12s. Never had a prob with those, just so oyu know the rating on these guys are RMS..suposedly...I don't know why my 10's were blowin. I think maybe a bad ground. but anyway underpower will KILL aluminum subs(so I have been told) I say you get your new one and try it again. Also audiobahn has had numerous probs with the glue in the alums..they had a recal about a year or 2 back. also make sure u are runnin at right ohmage. IF I am not mistakinn, that 12 is 3 ohm.
