This might sound weird, I dont know if anyone has thought of this or not but I want to make a switch panel that controls each individual speaker in my system. One for the tweeters, one for the midrange, and one for the midbass. My question is does this sound like a good idea?? Will using a switch decrease the quality of the sound or the performance of the each speaker?? I want to do this mainly to see how each speaker sounds with the power Im sending it. Also because some songs I listen to distorts the midrange and some doesnt. I want to be able to listen to my midranges with my ear close to them without the tweater blasting my ear. I figured the easiest thing to do is put an inline switch on one of the wires. I have components in the front so it would be easy to do. I would just put a switch on each amp but my MTX 4244 runs both the Kicker components and Kicker midbass so that wouldnt work. Anyway, is this crazy or will it work?? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply megabass. I know it would be a LOT of trouble but I think I will try it. As you can probably tell I have been doing a lot of daydreaming about stuff to do to my car. I actually sort of developed the idea from your setup. I read one of your posts where you said you had a switch for the amps then I thought since I have an amp that is 4-channel cant I use individual switches for the speakers? Also, I havent been shopping for the switches I want to use yet but does anyone know if they make a switch with two inputs and two outputs?? Like, my tweeters for instance, if I want to make it when I flip the switch either both of them turn on or both of them turn off. Then I could use the fade on the HU to select the left or right one. Guess I need to go to Radio Shack to see what they got. Thanks

You get what you pay for when it comes to switches. I'd say use high quality relays instead. You've probably got a lot of current going to your speakers so you'll need something better than a standard rocker switch to get a high-quality connection with little signal clarity loss.
Using heavy duty switches and running thick cables to them is a bad idea.

I know how to put a switch to just turn off the amps. You dont even have to put relays in like you mentioned. Just put a regular inline switch on the remote turn on lead and there you go. When its off the amp is off and vice versa. Thanks for the help though.
