I assume that you have a stock HU right?
Well you can actually hook up subs and an amp to it. BUT, the amp must have speaker level inputs in order for it work. Ya see the stock HU doesn't have any RCA pre-outs, so we have to make due with what we have.
Check the amp, and look for a speaker level input, if it has it then the you can do it.<b><i>1999 Pewter Trans Am M6 - Stock for now...<br />296.6 RWHP and 310.6 RWTQ</i></b> -<i>SOLD</i><p><i>\"There are vast amounts of money to be made in the sevice of the Lord!\"</i><br /><i>1994 Green Camaro M5 - <b>SOLD</b></i><p><br /><b><i>Associate of VENOM-VI</i></b>

You've got 3 options. First is what the other dude said. Even if the amp has high level inputs, also known as speaker level inputs, you don't want to use them if it's possible not to. RCA cables, also known as low level inputs, are much better to use. Second option is go to Radio Shack and ask them for a speaker wire to RCA cable adapter. It should be less than $10. This adapter has two RCA outputs on one side and has two sets of speaker wire on the other side. You just hook the speaker wire in-line with one left and one right channel. Then just run an RCA cable from the adapter to the amp. The final option is to buy one of these http://www.affsave.com/pac.htm and follow the instructions you get with it.

You can do that, but you should get a new HU soon. The signal isn't as clean if you use speaker level or even high impedence adapters.
A good HU is the best solution for a cleaner signal, so you can use RCA jacks. Less chance of that static-type sound.
Make sure when you run power wires, it isn't next to the ground/speaker/rca wires.Massivefirebird\'s <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/leondb\" target=\"_blank\">(leonDB) Cardomain</a><br /><a href=\"http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster\" target=\"_blank\"> Flowmaster 80</a>, <a href=\"http://www.knfilters.com/\" target=\"_blank\"> K&N FIPK</a>, <a href=\"http://www.jetchip.com/\" target=\"_blank\"> Jet Stage 2 & 180º T/S</a>, <a href=\"http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/SparkPlugs/PlatinumPlus4/\" target=\"_blank\"> Bosch quads</a>, <a href=\"http://www.pilotautomotive.com/pilot2dn.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> Pilot 1055 Fogs</a>, <a href=\"http://makotoautotrends.com/\" target=\"_blank\">Clear turn signals</a>, <a href=\"http://www.autoventshade.com/\" target=\"_blank\">AVS rear blackouts</a>... <a href=\"http://www.massiveaudio.com\" target=\"_blank\">2 Massive CW 12\'s</a>, <a href=\"http://www.kicker.com\" target=\"_blank\">Kicker 2252, 652,& 352 XI Amps</a>, <a href=\"http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/home/\" target=\"_blank\">MB Quart</a>.
