I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good amp wiring kit. I just purchased a 360w rms 5 chan amp and it'll just be a one amp setup with 4 speakers and a sub. no equalizers or crossovers.
I would like to get a quality amp kit so I don't get any noise interference, but I don't want to overkill it and spend more money than I need to.
Can anyone recommend a good kit or even just the wire guage I should use for this amp? Thanks.

You'd be better off to go to a stereo shop or electronics wholesaler like www.partsexpress.com and buy all the components separately. It will save you some money. For 365 watts, 8 gauge will do, but if you plan on upgrading to 800 plus watts, I would go with 4 gauge.
Man u cant save money buying it seperatly...heres where to go,either www.zebaudio.com or www.sounddomain.com . I woudl get a fosgate or street wires...Later

Yes, buy it seperately so you get higher quality wires and accessories. Sure an amp wiring kit comes with all you'll need, but I like to know that I'm getting good products.
Can anyone recommend a specific kit? I really don't know what wires I need. The last stereo I installed has some noise problems and I don't want that again so I want some decent stuff.

Also, is there ever a problem with going to a lower number gauge, or is it just a cost thing. Is using a 4 gauge when you should be using an 8 gauge a bad thing?

as far as i know using 4 guage instead of 8 will just save you the trouble of having to rewire later if u up the wattage
im running 8 guage happily with my 1200W im sure it could be better but it works for the time being, its really just about how upgradable you want it to be since your not pushing alot of wattage

It's all about current. You want to use your amp to its full pontential. Why get an XX watt amp and smaller gauge wire which doesn't help the amp see its full potential? It's a waste of money! If that's the case, why not spend less on a cheaper amp with less watts?
Just food for thought.

They give these ratings so you will know how to use your equipment more effectively. It's not how warm your wires get during use. Sure, 8 gauge wire will work in a 1200 watt system. But not nearly as effectively as 4 gauge or 0 gauge. That's my point and I believe Massivefirebird said the same thing. Your amp is requesting current and beyond about 400 watts or so, 8 gauge cannot supply enough. Therefore you get more resistance and the voltage drops. Believe me, if you have 1200 watts, your bass will be noticebly louder if you upgrade your wiring.
I have 8 gauge right now. I just bought a RF 800.2, which is 800 or so watts plus I plan on adding a 100 x 2 amp for highs. Believe me, I am gonna upgrade to 4 ga. wiring. Don't starve you amps from power. Just a suggestion.
