• 10" Adire Brahma in JL Vantage box??

I read that somebody said that this sub would not fit in a JL Vantage box, but I don't know why it wouldn't. The mounting depth is only 6.5", 0.5" deeper than the Alpine Type R that is currently in it. I know the dia. of the magnet is bigger, but I don't think the Vantage is indented quite that much to hinder it.

Anybody know for sure??

Thanks
Paul

Never seen the box, but if its angled at all, then you are limited to your sub choices, because of both magnet diameter and depth. That should pretty much make sense if you already know that the magnet diameter is larger.

If its a relitively square box, you shouldn't have any problems.

Also, I don't know how JL boxes are built, but if the material is thick enough and you are only a few millimeters shy of getting your sub to fix, you could always sand out the back a little.

I have no problem with the depth..it's around 8-10". Just that the box is slightly indented on the sides and I am wondering if the magnet will interfere with the side of the box as it slides into it....here's a pic of it (copy and paste)

Can't really see the inside of that box, but it looks like you might have a problem cramming anything with a decent depth in there.

Have you bought the new 10" yet? Why are you getting a new one?

yeah, I already ordred it :( I know I have enough depth, it's just the nubs on the side that worries me. Steve at Subthump doesn't see why it wouldn't fit....

I REALLY want that sub

nothing, I'm just upgrading. I bought a Avionixx 1200.2 amp for my sub and I want something that will be able to take 1200+watts. I have heard some really good things about the Brahmas and thought I would go for it

Good luck with the setup. My suggestion is ditch the crappy box. Build something made to withstand vibration.

Don't worry about it too much. If anything will cause you problems it will be the lower front part. I have one sitting here that I'm examining. If all else fails, you can look for a BJ Nolan 12" stealth and modify it to fit your 10. But if the brahma fits, let us know so we can recommend this in the future. That is an excellent sub--so good choice. I would probably have picked that same sub ;)
