  • Wiring Single DVC Sub

    Hi,

I have a Planet Audio REM6500 5 channel amp. It will be running my fronts, rears and sub. Here is the thing that I am questioning, I am running an Ultimate Sound 12" DVC(Dual 4ohms). I'm pretty sure I can not wire this sub to run at 2ohms, cause all the other speakers are running at 4ohms. Is it okay to wire this sub to run at 8ohms or does that destroy the sub or amp, or can I run it at 2 ohms?

    Thanx

you can run it at 2ohms, it doesnt matter if all the impedances are different. So just wire the coils in parallel and you should be good to go. ;)

As long as the amp is stable to 2 ohms, you can run it parallel to 2 ohms. Otherwise, if you series it to 8 ohms, it will be easier on the amp, but won't push as hard. Try both, if the amp can handle the low impedance load, go for it.
