Do you prefer the box flipped up or facing down into the well? I've notice that it seems to hit harder when it is aimed down into the well, but I get better sound quality when it faces up toward the glass. Any opions? What do you think Steve?

Matt,
I don't have the box, but I remember reading specifically that others also hit harder facing down. Here's an earlier thread...

if you think of it this way... when facing back its accually using the trunk as a second box... kinda like a big bandpass

The reason for this is because the waves have longer to fully develop when reflected of the back or well.

Yea mine sounds so much better in the well. Facing up their is no base it seems, but in the well, wow its awesome.

Well I have been leaving them up as of late, don't ask me why, but recently I have facedit down into the well and been getting the same sq with much more SPL. :D My buddy that I work with hates me cause I set off his alarm any time i'm anywhere close to his car. (box flipped up or down) :D

Just wait till your subs are fully broken in and it warms up another 10-15 degrees ;)

so that stuff affects sub performance? is it because things expand when it's warmer and it can move more air or am i just an idiot??

Warmer no. All electronics should be as cold as possible....although I think Megabass was refering to the outside air temp.

What I meant was that sound waves travel faster or are louder at higher temperatures. So if you go out and crank up your system when it's 30 or 40 degrees, it's not going to be as loud as if you crank it at 80 degrees.

Some of us aren't blessed with california weather so trying to make spl when it's cold is kinda redundant. You'll get way higher numbers on warmer days. That's all.
