amp question

i am on the market for a another new amp and i saw a lanzar vibe 1200 watt amp for 239.99 a friend of mine has one but i don't know anything about them what do you guys think????

I think decent amps that produce an actual 1200 watts of real and clean power aren't had for $239. Lanzar amps are not known for their good quality, they're kind of a pawn shop brand like pyramid or kraco. If you're looking for a decent amp and you've come across lanzar, you're probably looking in the wrong area for decent amps. I use PPI and swear by them. I got my (it's old now) A600 (600x1@4ohm or 300x2@2ohm) amp off of ebay for 300. That 10 year old amp will blow a brand new lanzar 1200 watt amp away.

For new brands, there are plenty out there, the big thing to pay attention to is that you actually do get what you pay for (at least for the most part) in car audio.

Do a little more shopping around, find a rockford fosgate or alpine or kenwood amp. These are moderately priced - decent amps. They aren't the best amps out there, but they'll do much better for you than the off brands. Stay away from sony, lanzar, rockwood, optimus, etc... get a good amp the first time and you'll be able to use it for much longer and you'll be much happier with it.

Actually this amp is a good bang for the buck. I'm not sure if it puts out over 1200 but it does do 1200 with a realitivly low THD. Yes, Lanzar does have a bad rep. but the vibe series if OK. It's one of the best dollar/watt buys out there.

I have to agree, my old lanzar was quite good. I ended up breaking a button on it, and got it serviced, that went pretty good too. I know they arent the best amps out there, but for bang for your buck they are the best.

Personally after using my JL amp, i will never go back to lanzar tho...
