  • remote hatch with alarm

okay so i have a remote start DEI alarm that i had installed at best buy and i am having problems with the remote hatch pop they installed. i used to work there and the guy that knew anything about cars isnt there anymore so i dont really want to take it back there.

the problem i am having is that the hatch wont pop unless the car is on or the car door is open. isnt there a security option you can enable so that all the power accesories such as windows and locks cannot be accesed? i am think that the reason it wont pop is becuase i have this option on... so how do i turn it off? or maybe its a different problem

Well, I've noticed on my car that the remote button (in the glove box) for the hatch doesn't always work. It seems like I have to either 1. had the car on very recently (accesory still energized) or 2. have the car running, or 3. have a door open.

I'm not real clear on this circuit, but this is what I've noticed. (BTW, I don't have any kind of alarm)

In most of the alarm installs I've done, I just splice into the wire for the remote to get a signal, but I don't interrupt the signal at all. (Meaning I don't cut the wire, I just tap it)

Even if the alarm has the option to disable that lead, it may not if the lead was tapped in this way. (the switch could still close the circuit regardless of the state of the alarm circuit)

At least that is what it sounds like to me. You might take it back and tell them. Surely they warrant their work.

Yeah so I have that same problem, I doubt its something with the install and rather something with DEI products.
      PS - DEI sucks

Actually, DEI doesn't suck. They're the leaders in car security.

Touching on the subject, I found out the same thing. However, if I hold down my AUX button long enough, the hatch will pop up. I have a Python Remote Start system (not sure what your's is).

Couldn't be further from the truth. DEI IS the leader in car security systems. And they don't make half bad audio equipment either...

sounds like someone is trying to get flamed... or maybe they're just completely ignorant...

Anyway, it has more to do with the circuit of your car, than it does with the actual wiring of the remote release trigger. Most likely something would be incorrect with in that circut. Check fuses and all your interior lights to make sure everything is correct with that. Did you know that a blown brake light bulb will make your cruise control stop working? Sometimes it's not the obvious thing that makes things stop working. You could also just follow the wiring of that trigger wire in the car to the actual release in the trunk and see if it's getting it's correct power/ground as it should be.

PS DEI doesn't suck. For alarms they've got about the best thing going
