• How should I wire my subwoofer?

Well, as of today my subwoofer setup is almost complete. I just have a quick question as to how I should wire my subwoofer to the amp. My speaker is a 10" Alpine Type-R(dual voice coil,4 ohm+4ohm), and the amp is an MTX Thunder 801d. When I'm looking at the wiring diagram, it really confuses the hell out of me. If I'm wiring the sub into a mono amp, do I need two sets of RCA's? I noticed that on the speaker, there are two sets of RCA inputs.

Also, does it make sense to take out a $30 2 year plan to protect me in case the speaker blows? I've never had the problem before, but have any of you?

Thanks,
Brent

Wire +'s together and then to the + terminal on the amp. Same for the negative's. Be sure you know what you're doing when setting the gain and there should be no need for the 2 year plan.

YES YES YES, do the 2 year plan
when u get tired of them blow them on purpose and get new speakers equal to or better.... my friend has done it twice already, first time it wasnt on purpose... 2nd time, we were just having fun seeing what they could take with my earthquake 3000 watt 2000 watt RMS amp

plus $30 really isnt nothing for a just in case warranty, so id say do it. plus, big tymer has a point.. and you dont have to worry about being careful with them, you can push that sub to the limits.
