• 8" sub question

ok first off i know this is stupid but i just thought id ask. has anyone ever tried to fit any 8" subs in the rear seat speaker positions (with a sealed enclosure built around them of couse). i was just thinking that two ED 8" A series subs would work out nice if i could fit the 5" long beasts in there. BTW does anyone know the frequency response on those things.

The only place that 8's can go in a bird is in the front doors with extensive modification. Also the 8a's arent meant to be ran free air. If you were to run 8's in the doors, look into some JL 8ib4's or some kicker rmb 8's.

yeah i know they arent free air that why i said "with a sealed enclosure built around them of couse". but thanks for the info. how good do you think they would sound in the front with the regular speakers in the back?

Yes, you can squeeze 8" in the rear sail panels. I believe DJ Sexay has done it. He sealed them off just as you mentioned ,but he warned us "it's not easy". That's an understatement. And I'm not so sure about the ED A's. Even if you could squeeze them in there, I bet that panel would be flexing like a mofo.

Maybe if i learned to read. :D

That would be a pretty complicated enclosure to build. Also it involves a lot of cutting and fabricating to get 8's into the front. 5" is a big mounting depth and IF it does fit it will require cuttin some glass off your windows for clearence. So all in all i wouldn't do it for the extra 1.5", just go with your other plan and get the CDT HD's.

you MAY be able to fit 2 IDQ 8's in there. They're mounting depth is only 3.5" compared to the e8A 5.0". They also work very well in small boxes. Just a thought.
