• Best Setup for A Mix of SQ/SPL

Im growing tired of the rattling and poor sound from my cheapo system so im looking for another setup to do.

First off my current system:
-Pioneer DEH-P6400
-Pioneer CDX-P1250 12-disc changer
-Kenwood KAC-820 2 channel amp (any info on this amp greatly appreciated)
-2 Pioneer TSC-34C 12" subs
-Homemade box 1.25cft per sub

What kind of difference would i notice switching to good 10's

Next, what kind of box would be better suited a millhouse or stealth boxes. (Switching to Tens)

Now I want the best mix of SQ and SPL so im looking at these subs

-Eclipse
-JL Audio
-Kicker Comp
-Kicker Comp VR

And for components what about:

-Rockford Fostgate
-Polk

And how would i go about wiring a 4 channel amp with a headunit with just front and sub outs maybe an equalizer ?

Thanks

JL, Adire, Infinity, and Elemental all make nice subs that will pound nicely and sound clean. On your components though basically if you can buy it at Best Buy or Circuit City avoid it. Boston Acoustics and Infinity are my favorite component manufacturers Adire also has some nice stuff out now too. But for overall quality if you can buy the speakers off the shelf at a major retail chain avoid it. Car audio shops and Internet retailers all have much nicer equipment for just a little more money than the garbage most retail chains sell. If you want a really nice sounding setup for a reasonable price grab some Infinity Kappa components with your choice of a hight quality sub and you'll have a grin from ear to ear. Remember to get decent amps and a nice head unit to power that equipment no sense in spending good money on decent speakers without a clean signal. Old computer adage works for car audio too, "garbage in garbage out".

Bostons are really really nice the only place that has them around here is Tweeter and they want abround 999.00 a set wayyy out of my price range. what about eclipse or focals

What kind of amps would be recommended for the doors and subs.

And i want to go with a dual 10 setup. but trying to decide on what kind of box
to use

Focal's lowest line (Access) can be bought brand new off Ebay for about $145. Great buy. But if you can afford better, spend it. Components are going to make or break your system.

actually, there's an auction on ebay right now for an eD10A for like $170 and was never mounted. It would be wise for you to think about that as well.
Eclipse 8443, CDT ES-620s in doors (Clarion APX401.2), IEK, CDT 6X in rear(HU), Image Dynamics ID10v.3D.4 in stealthbox(Clarion DPX1001.2)
http://www.sounddomain.com/id/larryfirebird33
borla cat-back, FTRA, whisper lid

Sound deadening mat is just meant to keep unwanted noise to a min. (road noise, engine noise, etc.) To prevent vibrating, your best bet is to just seek out exactly want it vibrating and wedge something in there to prevent movement.

Well umm lots of good ideas.

The dynamat thing is a must i know i had the trunk of my grand prix done and it helped tremendously.

Still wanting to know the best SQ and SPL mix setup the Stealthboxes or the Millhouse

And my headunit has front and rears but no sub would i be better off just ditching the back speakers and going with a two channel for the components and a sub amp for the subs.

Looking at focals definatly for components
looking at JL audio W0's or W3's or kicker comp VR for subs
looking at JL 500.1 for Subs and want a good suggestion for fronts.

Reluctaint to replace headunit seen how i got 200 in the unit and the cd changer together prob will get an eclipse down the road or reccommend a good pioneer with IP-Bus controls maybe the 9000 series?

Oh and my budget is slim to none wanting to do this over time one peice at a time or would it be good to save and buy bulk?

Ok, I have a milhouse with 2 10w6v2's and the sound quality is awesome. I'm sure that you will see excelent SQ out of either box though. If I were you I would ditch the rear completely, the only way to answer your question is to try it with your existing speakers and see how you like it. Focal's are real nice speakers especially the k2's and the k2p's. As for the subs have a look at the w3v2's they are real nice and go for right around $100. On to the 500/1, as you can see I run that same amps and I love them, by far the best amps I have worked with. As matter of fact I think I may be selling them off and getting a 1000/1 to free up some space on the back wall, so if your interested then drop me a line I still have the original box and manual. I think your best bet is to work in steps and piece it together. Your not gonna save much by buying in bulk.

Hope this helps

Ok been checking out some of the stuff on ebay and got some questions. Over at the F-Body Audio forums JBL GTI's are going over pretty well? Are they a good sub for the money? and the Focals, Would i be better off going with the Access Components are the PolyGlass 2-2ways?

Mike's conviced yet another with the GTI :D I personally have never heard a GTI but Mike (DJSexay) says that they hit lower and harder than a W7  However if you were to go with the GTI's then you'd be limited to the stealths or the well box due to the 9 1/8 mounting depth.
