ok, i have a RF HU which is 40Wx4 (25W RMS X4) and it has a sub out and also 2 additional speaker outputs, out the back...

i'm hooking up the sub, and also have 2 6x9 boxes, but want to know how to hook them up, and how to power them... do i use the additional 2 outputs, and just plug and play (but will they have power...), or do i connect them to the sub/amp to get power/signal, or do i wire them in a different way.

any help would be greatly appreciated
    ian

I'm not a fan of big rear fill speakers, I like my soundstage up front.

But, if you like rear fill, I'd get an amp... a small one. HU's that say 25 watts don't usually put out that much... and I'm assuming the 6x9's can handle more than that? They'd be seriously underpowered, but you could do that.

What brand/model are they, and do you want big/quality sound out of the 6x9's, or just a little rear fill? If you just want a little sound back there hook it to the rear channel on the HU.

Well said. Also you said that you are hooking up the sub, yet you said nothing about an external amp. I'd IF you want the rear fill then get a 4 channel external amp and bridge two of the channels for the sub and leave the other two for you 6x9's
