Since it is warm to day I will try to fix the problem with my sub. Lets start with my setup. I started with a Pioneer GM-X862 760W amp. I spliced into the rear speakers in the hatch And wired them into one of those blue rca converters I found at wal-mart. It is a scosche FIA3A. Anyway at first this setup worked. I had 2 10 inch ported subs. Then a few months later I upgraded to 1 12 inch sealed sub. About 30 minuets after I put the new one in and bridged it, I was going down the road and the whole thing just quit. At first I thought it was the sub but it tested fine at home. Next I thought the amp, three amps later I know that isn't it. Next I suspected the blue rca thing, 4 of those later I know that isn't it. now the speakers in the hatch still work so I know there is a signl is getting to the hatch. That only leaves the wires tied into the speakers and the blue rca thing, but I find it hard to beleive they both went bad at the same time. My uncle is is an electronice teacher at my old high school and I took it to him and he cannot figure out what is wrong. I want another opinion before I go on another expensive wild goose chase to fix this problem.

Thought I should also mention the amp is getting power. I hooked up my cd player to it directly to the amp with rca cables and it worked as well as a .5W signl will work.95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

check the fuses on the amp ? sometime they still come on but don't pass signal, might be the wires tied to your speakers, or maybe your speaker outputs from your amp are no longer good.95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

What you just said is not clicking in my head but I will try to explain how it is set up. I spliced into the positive and negative wires going to the two speakers in the hatch. I taped both speakers so I can have left/right channels. That means 4 wires. From there those 4 wires connected to a blue box that had rca outputs on the other side. The rca cable then ran to the rca hookup on the amp. What I did to test the amp was to unhook the rca cable from the amp and use the cd player( have you seen a portable dvd player, they come with cables that can hookup to the rca inputs on a tv. but the imputs for the cables are for a mini jack. Thats what I used.) And yes I have used several sets of rca cables to try and find the problem.95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

What is the power of the factory amp? The wires I had running to the rca converter were smaller than 18 guage, could they have been burnt up?95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

thanks for the specifics I understand you alot more clearer now, yep anything smaller than 18 gauge is usually gonna quick if you have enough wattage, I used 20 gauge once and my car smelled like burned plastic for some days.
Power of factory amp sorry i dunno, but am curious too---Niño---
95\' silver 5 spd

I want to say around 240W for the car but I may be wrong. Anyway I am off to radio shack to get another fuse.

HaHaHa on the way out the door I grabed some 18 guage wire and that did the trick. All that and 4 months later it turns out to be some crappy wire. Oh well, at least it works now.95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky
