• What system to get?

Im a subwoofer newbie. I have an alpine head unit CDA-9807. I have the bose system option.

I am most likely buying the ttop box off of subthump.com

I would like to go 2 12s.

What kind of subwoofers/amp would u choose? I wanna be heard so i want some hard hitters.

We need more info. Namely, a budget. You looking to replace your other speakers as well? Sure would be a good time to do it.

Im only wanting to start out with subwoofers. I am 16 and get my license in april. Once school is out il get a job. I should be working full days and i have no bills to pay so price shouldnt be a problem. I guess a good price is $600 i dont think i would spend any more than $600.
I like the bose speakers i dont think there is a need to replace the bose speakers.

$600 for two 12"s and amp? And box? How about a pair of Elemental Designs e12O.44's and a JBL BP600.1?

Steve, haven't seen you around for a while.

As for the subs you say you want hard hitters. How about a pair of Kicker l7's and a JBL 1200.1 :D That may be pushin the 600 dollar limit though, but they would slam. If your looking lower budget you could go with some audiobahn's, some others could comment on that cause I don't know much about them. Have a look at www.subthump.com they have some real nice boxes that would suit you well. ;)

Is the JBL 1200.1 a mono amp? Does that mean it will only push 1 sub? I would like to have 1 amp to push 2 12s. Also The $600 range was an estimate. I could probably go more.

The 1200.1 is a mono amp. But that doesn't mean it will only push one sub. In fact it can push many subs. What you need to watch is the total impedence of the circuit. For example, if you had two 12s and each one was a 2ohm dvc, then you could wire them series/parallel and that would give you a total 2ohm impedence. That way, the amp will put out it's rated 1200 watts (@2ohms).

If you had that amp and couple 12s like Alpine Type R's, JL 12w3v2s, or even Rockford HE2s, that would make for a real nice setup with some serious thump.

I think he can do a little better than two 10w0s. He wants a pair of 12s anyhow.

Read our FAQ thread in the Modifications Encyclopedia. (link at the top of forum) Bet you'll learn a lot.

And if you just want SPL, go with a pair of Kicker 12" L7's and the JBL BP1200.1. Here's a SMOKIN deal on a pair of the L7's! $248 with free shipping!!! Add $260 for the BP1200.1 and you're well under your $600 limit.

Or if you want to maintain some superb SQ while still hitting those high SPL numbers, go with a pair of Elemental Designs 12" A's.

Also do camaros rattle with alot of bass?

One more thing. Lets say a 2000 cavalier has 2 12 audiobahns in trunk. If a camaro had the exact same setup but subwoofers in ttop well. Would you be able to hear more thump from the cavalier or camaro?

Only asking because my cousin has 2 12 audiobahns in his trunk and u know how family is out to outdo each other haha.

I say the camaro will be louder. The cabin gain of a hatchback is way better than the restrictions of a fully enclosed trunk.

100% true. And I'd say that the f-bodies are pretty good when it comes to rattling. Better then any car with a trunk. If you went with the dual L7's, BP1200.1, and a solid box you'd blow your cousin's car out of the water. ;)

L7's wont fit in t-top box. I think u can only buy it in 2 12's or 3 10's.
