  • Ohms and such...

Welp, I'm about to order my new stereo stuff, except there's one thing on my mind...I've decided to go with...

    Front: 6.5" Component Set (4ohm)
    Amps: 4 channel @ 4ohm stereo & 1 channel @ 2 ohm mono
    Sub/Box: Stealthbox w/ 10" Dual 4 ohm VC running at 2 ohm

...the problem is the rear speakers. I want something back there and I was going to go with a set of 6.5" midbass drivers, but they are a 3 ohm operation. I don't think my amp will handle this (right?) If it will, what are my options? If not, would the same set of components w/o the tweeter and just the 6.5" speaker work? Need any advice you guys/girls can give me!

    Thanks
    -Andrew

Your amp is most likely stable down to 2 ohms. Almost all 4-channel amps are. Which amp were you looking at? You are planning on getting a 4-channel amp, so components on the 2 front channels and one rear speaker on each of the rear channels. They will get a little more power then the components because they are 3 ohm, if this makes them too loud, turn the gain down a bit.

If I just hooked it up...

      front components (first two channels)
      rear speakers (last two channels)

...would this blow fuses, because the impedance is lower on the speakers, or is the other way around (if the impedance is lower on the amp)?

I guess when it comes down to it...I wanna know if I can hook up the 3ohm speakers (w/o bridging) into the last two channels?
