Well this is actually my moms car. She has a 97 pontiac firebird. She still has the stock stereo on it and recently the volume works only when it wants to. Like when you try to decrease the volume it sometimes increases it and vice versa. So sometimes we don't know which way to turn it and it gets so freakin loud that we can't even listen to the radio anymore. Sometimes there are some good days and it actually works how it's supposed to work. We already blew up the speaker on the passenger side. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, fix it by replacing the stock head unit. Mine did the same thing, Alpine to the rescue, or any brand you want, if it a Monsoon system, get the PAC adapter for it.97 Silver Bird
3.8 M5 Bone Stock Engine
15.528 @ 88.96 bone stock
www.fbodyenhancements.com/
