I went to downtown LA and got quoted $310 for 2 10" fosgate HE2 subs with box and a Sony 1000w 2 ch amp. I was wondering what you guys think of Sony amps because I went to Al & Ed's (I know they're dumb asses) but they said Sony's were crap and that it would cut out. I don't think this is true, but what do you guys think. The subs are 800w peak 400w RMS so each sub would get 500watts each.

I think the sony stuff is way over rated (power ratings, and opinions).. Umm.. but on the other had I liked my old sony.. it was good for the money..

sounds like an ok deal for that gear.. i say go for it..

I had a sony xploid lastyear and it did just what the name said....xploided. There amps are crap..it blew like 5 times and I returned it to tweeter so much that they finally just gave me a kenwood. They stopped carrying the xploids at that store around here b/c so many people were returning them

          Sony Xplode = Crap. Period.

High-end super expensive sony is great stuff, too bad it costs a fortune though.

I have only had moderate luck with the xplode amps..Not very good IMO..there are some other choices that are in the same price range that are considerably better.

lol the new sony 2ch 1000watt amp, I picked one up for 150 at frys on a miss marked wall sale. supposed to be 200 there but I wouldnt buy retail =P. It pushes decently ( considering I have a JBL 1200 watt amp ) i understand good power vs bad but it would work well in this aplication.

the best amp to get would be alpine, kenwood, or fosgate, and honestly i haven't really heard anything hooked up to a sony amp, but i haven't heard good things about it

eDoog, if you are looking for a cheap, but still quality amp to push those HE2's.... check out the JBL BP1200.1 or the Kicker kx1200.1 Those are going to be your best bangs for the buck. Also... the Lanzar VIBE1200D is suppose to actually output 1200WRMS.... yes yes it's lanzar, but I have heard this over and over again about the VIBE line. You can pick one of those up REAL cheap of Ebay...
