Ebay is the place to go. You can save over 50% off retail. I have been happy with all the speakers that I have bought.

i would get a nice set of components..

you may wanna look into the concept of a front sound stage and consider ditching the rear pair to save money and get a better pair..

I like boston pros.. look around online you cna find then for like 50% of retail..

yeah keep in mind most of the sound is suppose to come from the front speakers, so buy the cheapest for the rear.

Not necessarily the cheapest pair. Actually, you want a set with stellar midbass response. Low pass them at a few hundred Hz. I recommend the Kicker RMB6 or Adire Audio Koda mid for the rear. For the front end.... can't beat Focal. www.focal-america.com

Why does everbody ditch the rear speakers. I can definately tell a difference since I put 6x9's in. The combination of highs in front mids in back and a sub in the hatch makes perfect sound. So why does everyone act like these aren't important??

If you get Pioneer just make sure that you get the Premier series. Infinity and MB Quart make great speakers, especially components, and like 96firebird said Focals are great too. Expensive but awesome speakers.

What sounds good to one, may not to another. I believe that you should lowpass them and use them as a midbass/range speaker. Those high frequencies that a co or tri-axil put out wreak havoc on your soundstage. That's why a lot of people say ditch them all together. But if you minimize this by lowpassing them...... sounds good to me!

Focal's lowest line is still better then other companies components. *cough* Kicker *cough* *cough*

the rear speakers are suppose to just be 'filler' for staging purposes.

most people like feeling like the musicians are infront of them, not behind them.

using a crossover so they only play low notes wouldn't be such a bad idea, since you shouldn't be able to tell where the bass is coming from anyway.
