If you owned a 1999 Camaro with a stock Monsoon system, and if you had about 1800 dollars to spend, what's the most kickass system you would put in for that money? Basically I want speakers/amp/sub I have a Sony Xplod mp3 player headunit which is fine. What do you suggest for everything else?
Well, it really depends on what kind of system do you want. Do you want a car that pounds hard and is hard to breath in or plays really loud crisp clear music? Or little of both? What type of music do you listen to? Are you willing to give up your t-top storage area? Or hatch area if you don't have t-tops. Post back with some more info and I'll narrow down some options.
I want the T-Top storage. I'm not willing to give up that space. I have a pretty wide range of musical taste everything from some rap to rock to techno. Basically I want a loud, crisp sound with real good bass that will turn some pedestrian heads if I want to piss someone off

Well, good deep bass can only be produced buy a subwoofer and if your not willing to give up t-top storage then a q-logic (or JL Stealth) box is the only way your gonna fit a sub in there. They can fit 1 12" sub. If your only gonna run 1 sub you won't need A LOT of power and if you don't wanna spend A LOT of money I would recommend one 5 or 6 channel amp. 4 channels to drive your mids and highs and 1 (or 2 bridged) to drive the sub. Also, I would recommend a pair of component speakers for up front. Focal make some outstanding componenets that fit your price range. Post back with your thoughts and I will help you out. The powered sub you mentioned is sold at Tweeter (electronic store around my area). It's not too expensive. The guy recommended Boston Acoustic speakers and a 4 channel amp. Why did he say for channels and you recommend 5 or 6?

They do make just the box, so you can put your own sub in there if you like. If there's a powered sub in there, that means that it has an internal amp and does not need a seperate amp to power it. That's probably why he recommended getting a 4 channel, because you wouldn't need the other 1 (or 2 if you get the 6) to power the sub. You see? You could go this route. I personally would not but it's all up to you. Let me know what you think. Also, ChameleonGreen is selling a PAIR of custom made stealth boxes. This way you could fit 2 12"s and still keep your t-tp storage! Look at some picks if you like. Check the topic that says "Who would buy stealth box?". Post back with some more thoughts and I will help.
now hold up! You're thinking the basic brand name way. stop it. Do some research, there's more boxes out there that will give you ttop space. Hate to advertise for someone else on the board but here's a real good place to get stuff specifially made for our cars www.subthump.com Here is another forum setup just for fbody audio www.fbodyaudio.com
96firebird311 was right about the focal comps.

Yep. He's correct. I forgot about those. Well! Now you have some choices. The boxes from subthump can fit 2 12" (I think) and still keep your t-top storage. But remember what I said. If you have 2 woofers you might need to have a seperate amp just for them because MOST 5 or 6 channel amps will not provide you with enough power to drive both woofers. Err, they CAN but your subs might want more. It can be done though. Try the 2 12" sub box from subthump and 2 12" Adire Audio Shiva's. They don't require much power and can be one of the best 12"s on the market.
