  • Removing power windows for manuals, what do I need..

Im sick and tired of my power window motors dying so they've got to go. What all do I need to do besides removing the window motor and getting the window cranks?

\"Well, we don\'t care how bad-*** some dude\'s N/A Honda S2000 motor is; if you go up against 900+ pushrod ponies and 750 pounds of earth-shaking torque with a wrong-wheel-drive econobox, you\'re gonna get a fast and furious old-school ***-whipping.\"

Some F-Bodies have bad luck I guess but I am 100% that I want them gone. Really need instrutions/part numbers more than opinions (not trying to be mean, sorry if sounds like that)

        I did it to mine..

You need the manual window regulators and handles from a manual window car. This company sells them for both sides $90 (total after shipping). TaCreatUSA@aol.com they also accept paypal and sent them to me really fast!

        steps:
        Remove door panel.

Remove power window motor like usual.

Have someone hold the window for you when you start drilling out the rivets.

Drill out the 4 rivets that are holding in the power window regulator. drill in an X patten (top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left so that it doesnt unload and throw the window.(hold up the manual one to the door to see which ones they are, they are in a square shape towards each other).

Remove the only slider that goes up and down, its 3 bolts,(take its rubber stop out of the top too, its one bolt) then slide the regulator out. (you just have to get the wheels out of the sliders, they slide out) The window will get VERY heavy at this point, so give your helper a break every once in a while.

        Installing the new regualtor:
Hold the window all the way up and have your helper move it up and down while you get the wheels in the sliders. You have to put the first top one in, then the bottom one in and slide it over, then put the last top one in (youll see this when your doing it.) Now, slide the window wheel back into the vertical slider and bolt it back in and put the rubber stop back in the top so that its top is flush with the top of the slider. Youll have to play with the window to make it fit right.

Next, youll have to put the crank on the regulator to make it slide into place. just crank it up and down until its close then it will "click" in. Then, put screws or rivets in, I used screws with fender style nuts (slim). (use the crank to get access to all of the new holes) Crank the window up and down a few times here to make sure the screws arent too long, it will cut them in half if the are (experience).

Now cut a hole in your door panel where the circle is (i left the carboard part and didnt use the rear section of the handle, youll see this when your doing it). Put the door panel on, place the metal clip on the handle and push it on until it clicks (moderate force).

make sure when you order them that you specify that you need the handles too. Tell them that you are converting your windows and theyll make sure you get everything you need.
