When I bought my 1995 firebird I was told it had the monsoon sound system. I came with a 7 band EQ cassette player(which I replaced with the cd version). I have the stereo controls. Also my car has the 10 speakers. The front pair of 6.5's and tweeters. THe back seat "subs". Also the pair of trunk 4.5's and tweeters. I was told the monsoon amp was next to the spare tire, but I have not found it. Also just last night I checked my glovebox for the monsoon factory codes(ULO, UN6); which I did not find. Where these codes in the fbodies back in 95 or did they start putting them in later? I was always told if it had 10 speakers it was a monsoon system and if it had 4 it was the "regular" system, but I still can't find my amp so I'm confused. I doubt that my headunit could power 10 speakers so there has to be an amp somewhere? Please help

If you have 10 speakers you have the Monsoon. The amp is hidden very well. look up higher in the fender well and you will see a black box about the size of a cigar box, it has a large connector plugged into the bottom of it. That black box is the amp. Pontiac did not have the Monsoon label on their head units. Mine is a 97 and the stock head unit did not have monsoon on it anywhere. Mine doesn't have those codes either, but I have the original window sticker showing the Monsoon Option.97 Silver Bird
3.8 M5 Bone Stock Engine
15.528 @ 88.96 bone stock
www.fbodyenhancements.com/

so even though it's not the official "monsoon" I should still have an 500 watt amp, or did those come when they started labeling "monsoon" on the headunit? Tommorow is my day off, I'm gonna rip my car apart and try to find that f-ing amp. I'm not really concerened in upgrading my system, it's just something that is making me mad.

i've looked around where it's supposed to be, but I can't find it. the HU is labeled monsoon and you can tell that it is a Monsoon system and everything, but I wouldnt be able to find that amp if my life depended on it..
once/if you find yours could u give me some info on exactly where it is? it's something that bugs me too (not being able to know where it is )

Its hard to find the monsoon amp unless your really looking for it. Its mounted inside the inner fender. It just looks like a flat black panel. The amp is mounted to that but on the inner side of the fender. If you find the shock sensor look to the right until you see a black panel mounted vertically. Or just look for all the wires that go to it. You cant miss that big hunk of wire loom that goes through that area.1998 Cayenne Red Camaro 3.8 A4
-Whisper Lid, K&N, manual fan switch, DEI 508D

FOR SALE:
-Whisper Lid
-PAC OEM-1 adapter
-GM Delco 12 disc CD Changer
-MTX 4250D amp
-Kicker Free Air subs
-DEI 508D Proximity Sensor

I guess I have found it then. I thought that was a brace or something for the fender. Someone else here on this posted that they thought a 500 watt amp would be bigger (isn't the monsoon amp just 200 watt though? it's 500 watt MAX power for the whole system).
