  • Door Speaker Mounting Depth?

Does anyone know what the mounting depth is on the door speakers in a 97 camaro (6.5's)? I'm wanting to add components, and wondering just how big of a speaker depth-wise I can go with, without doing any mods...

2 3/8". For future reference, go to crutchfield.com or check out their catalogs. Most of them have an E-Z fit guide insert in them.

I have some kappa's in the front doors and they have a mounting depth of 2 7/16". I think anything under 3" and you should be fine. As a matter of fact I am about to install my newly arrived eurosports so I can get you an exact number tonight or tomorrow. What are you looking at putting in there?

Quality choice right there. Also have a look at the CDT CL61a's on thezeb.com they normally reatil at over $300 but are on sale for $150 shipped. I also have a set of Infinity Kappa 652.5i's that I was using in my front doors that I wont be needing since I have my eurosports. Matter of fact I was just gonna put them in the sail's just for show since I dont run rear speakers. They were mostly ran off the HU but I did send 50 watts to each of them for a few months.

NICE! That IS a sweet deal. Tough choice, but it's between the CDT's and Focal's. I don't see anything else in this price range coming close.

                  Hey Matt,

i'm running 652.5i's up front too, with oem's in the back. Wanna send those used kappa's my way? I might be interested in taking them off your hands.

</font>[/QUOTE]Hey 1101, the model above was a misprint the speakers are actually the 652.3i's which are the year befores model. They look exactly the same as the .5's and have the two way crossover on them. I dont really know what the difference was between the models. If you still want them I'll let them go for pretty cheap. Im not too greedy. :D Let me know and I can rustle up the box and grills and shoot you a few pics. Thanks

you can also just put a baffle to gain extra depth. I had a 3/4" MDF baffle made so that I could put my Eurosports in.

So I just bought those CDT's from thezeb.com for $150, and now I realize they have a 3" mounting depth. Am I pretty much in trouble and have to put them in like a kick panel, or will a baffle save me?

No man you will be fine, I put the eurosports in the doors with the factory baffles and they fit fine. Im sure that the eurosports have about the same mounthing depth if not more.
