well i really didnt rewire anything. i meant i reconnected all the wires back to my amp and subs because my brother took the amp out of my car and put it in his (cuz he doesn’t have one) for a couple of days while i carpeted my box.
also because i thought it could have been the wiring in the box I ran one pair of wires straight from the amp to the sub and not through the box but it still doesnt work
i'll check my subs in my brothers car again to make sure they work but if theres anything else to check tell me. thanks
btw, my brother says it doesnt work because its in a peice of crap pontiac but it works in his because its a ford (mustang) but everyone knows thats a lie! One thing to maybe check.... did you disconnect the battery when you did this? Maybe that caused your headunit to reset all the settings.... maybe one of those settings is to turn the subout on or off.
Stumped me the first time around. Now every time I disconnect my battery, I have to change this setting in my head unit.
It's a long shot... but from the sound of things... that's just what you need! :D

Yep, mines the same way, if I disconnect the battery it resets the head unit back to where the subs are turned off.1999 Silverado- Bagged, colormatched and rollin on stock chrome 16\'s
Make love not war, hell do both, get married

Try that, then make sure that you don't have any speaker wires touching at your amp and subs, that would cause a short and the subs wouldn't work. Are you RCAs plugged into the right inputs? I dunno.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! I didnt disconnect the battery when i hooked everything back up (could that be the problem?) and i also checked my cd player to make sure the bass was on as well as the sub on/off to make sure it was on.

Yes they are and because it still didnt work i tried switching them in every combination possible but still no luck. :( I also checked to make sure no wires were touching and none were.
Thats why im so confused because ive tried just about everything (that i know of). Any other suggestions?2000 White Firebird W68
A4, LSD, 3.42 gears
Flowmaster muffler, Borla tips
TA Hatch, 17\" Chrome Firehawk Wheels

Get a sub or speaker that you know works. Hook it to your wires. What I'm getting at is maybe your subs blew somehow. Also, maybe one of the wires fell off the speaker connection inside your box, this happened to me once.My Car: 1994 Camaro 3.4 V6 5-Speed
My Car

A buddy of mine had a problem like this in his Honda a while back as well, and we figured out that the RCA outputs on his deck were fried. The way I tested this was to touch the RCA to the OUTSIDE of the terminal it plugs into, metal to metal. You should get SOME sort of sound out of your subs, like a thump, just as you touch. which would mean they're getting a signal. If you don't, then I'd say the problem is probably in your deck.

Check your RCAs at your head unit, maybe they came out. If that doesn't work, start checking wires, I've had wires go bad on me before. Check the the RCAs at the HU end, the easiest way is to just touch the tip of it with your finger, you should hear a buzz, oh yea make sure your sub amp is turned on when you do this, if you don't replace the RCAs, if that doesn't work, then try replacing the wire going to your speakers.
Also are you using any kind of crossover? If you are, make sure it's powered up and working. If so, bypass it see if it works.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! ok now i am really confused. i hooked up my amp and subs in my brothers car and they both worked. Then to check if the problem was my cd player i parked my car close to his and hooked my rca cables from the cd player in my car to my amp n his car and the subs worked. so now i know that my amp, subs, rca cables, and cd player all work fine. But then when i hooked everything back in my car the same way, it didnt work. so pretty much all that was changed was the power source which has to be my porblem. my amps power light is on so i dont know why that would be my problem but it has to be.
Does anybody know why this is happening or what the problem might be? thanks for the help2000 White Firebird W68
A4, LSD, 3.42 gears
Flowmaster muffler, Borla tips
TA Hatch, 17\" Chrome Firehawk Wheels

I agree with 96_V6_Fbody. Just grab another sub or someone elses box and stick it in your car and hook it up to your amp to test it. I have a feeling it's the wiring inside the box (or to the sub). Even in everything is connected, something might be disconnected or shorting out. Or maybe you just have it wired backwards or something. I mean, if you have power to the amp and you've been able to get a signal from the HU to the amp, then it's got to be the wiring. Just a hunch. You might also try your box in your friends car to test out the subs. I suppose it's possible they could have blown. I wish I was there. We'd be boomin' in 10 minutes lol.

in my last post i said that my subs worked in my brothers car (they were in my box) so its not the wiring in the box. i know my subs arent blown so testing another sub in my car would be pointless. thanks anyways. anybody got any other suggestion?2000 White Firebird W68
A4, LSD, 3.42 gears
Flowmaster muffler, Borla tips
TA Hatch, 17\" Chrome Firehawk Wheels

hah. i found the problem. look at his sig. Sony Sony Sony. J/K make sure the ground on your amp is good, and the remote wire is still connected to the headunit. Also make sure the amp isnt in bridged mode or something like that. thats all i can think of.CAI, Flowmaster, Audiobahn Flame Q 12, 600w RMS, Panasonic cq-dfx883u, Lightning Audio 6.5 3 ways
check out my page
my car
