  • Component tweeter mounting options?

K, so I'm gonna be ordering my front components here in the next few days, and I was wondering if you guys could let me know all the options that I have for mounting them and any personal experience/preference with mounting the speakers that way... specfically the tweeters.
Just checking things out before I drop $100 on some mounting system I just end up tossing in the trash...So far I know of kick panels (which is out), mounting tweeters in the triangle by the rearview mirrors, and mounting them in the A pilar. What about mounting them in the panel on the door where most power window buttons are (yes I have crank windows!)?
Oh, and I'll most likely be going with CDT's or Focals...

I bought a Blaupunkt Component system for my front speakers, and what i did was take the door pannels off, then i used a dremmel to cut a a hole in the very top of the panel plastic, all the way at the front of the door, right next to the mirrors and the A piliar, (i dont think that there would be enough depth to install them IN the a pillar, but if it works...) and i installed the crossover to the inside of the panel with some screws. at the front of the door is the perfect place to put the tweeters because of all the glass and plastic around it, so very little sound is absorbed. not only do they look nice, flush with the panel, but they sound awsome. when i get in a car without components in them it sounds all muddy. also! wrap your crossovers in plastic or somthing, water DOES get inside the door, i found that out the hard way! good luck!
I\'m so used to doing so much with so little, I can do anything with everything!

Well your definiatly on the right track with the choice of components. With my CDT Eurosports I mounted them on the a pillar facing the windshield (a lot like larry in this link http://www.sounddomain.com/id/larryfirebird33) excpt mine are lower on the a pillar to compensate for woofer/tweeter separation. If you do put them on the a pillar, it takes some tweaking to get optimum results but when your done it makes for a very broad soundstage. But on to your question, the best way to figure out where you want them is to wire the tweeters up with plenty of slack and get some double sided tape and see how they sound. I did this in every position imagineable and finially decided on the a pillar. I also have crank windows and tryed taping them to that position on the door but they were a little to bright for my tastes and it also brought the soundstage way to close, but if you like it then more power to you. Good Luck if you have any other questions let me know.

Just keep them in the dash. There's PLENTY of room under there.
