Any remote start system would be fine. You could use something like a 551R or a 722T either one from DEI. Depending on the year of your car you might need to purchase an additional passkey bypass module (usually about 30 bucks). The 722T would be replacing the existing keyless entry system you have on the car if you have it, the 551R would be used in conjuction with your current keyless entry or as a stand alone if you do not have keyless now. If you do not have an automatic, you will not find a shop that will put either of these units in. If you have a 5 speed you'd either have to do it yourself (and feel like a dumbass when you mess something up by remote starting it in gear - yes, it will happen at some point) or you would need to get something like one of the clifford alarms with remote start built in to it. I don't like clifford alarms, but they're the only ones who have set it up to remote start a manual.

well my friend just put a remote starter on his 300zx...80$ on the net and he said the install video that came with it was for a camaro, everything is done under the dash, there is no need to even pop the hood, so dont waste money having it installed....Ill try and find some more info about it for ya.....

EDIT: my friends car is a stick and he only did it for us once cause he always leaves his car innuetral and E-Brake on, but its kinda funny watching it jump forward with no one in the car.....and where in Florida do you live??

no offense to that post, but an instruction video for something like that would kind of scare me. By the way, you SHOULD have to open the hood because there should be a safety shut off on the remote start which is attached to a hood pin so that when the hood is open, the car can't start so you don't end up chopping off some poor guys hand when he reaches under your hood and accidentally leans against the remote for the remote start that he has in his pocket, etc. Also, DEI is going to be the best way to go for that. They make the best stuff when it comes to those types of aftermarket components. There are others... but I wouldn't put that kind of faith in them.

I have been thinking about doing this for awhile but I always realize how big of a pain it would be to install so I usually give up on the idea. I have the stock alarm and adding the DEI 508D proximity sensor was enough work for me. I do have a few questions though, for DrMilhouse or whoever:

1)Do you know anything about the DEI 551T?? Is it good too, just an older model?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1362665353

2)Does this look like a decent passlock bypass or no??
            http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1361344042

3)If not which one of these modules would I need for my car??
            http://caralarm.zoovy.com/product/555T
            or
            http://caralarm.zoovy.com/product/555L

Theres not a lot of info in the last two links about the product.
Also, with the remote starters, if you turn the car on with the remote then want to go somewhere do you have to somehow turn it off then start the car with the key, and if your car is unlocked what keeps someone from jumping in a riding off with your car?? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand how these things work. Thanks.

                1) I'm not exactly sure of that model. The ebay description indicates that it also does keyless entry. I'm not 100% sure on that though. the 551R can be used for that too.

                2) Didn't really look cause you don't need a by pass of any kind.

                3) see 2... you don't need any sort of bypass kit as long as you have the passkey system (the kind that has the little chip in the key)
