  • power window conversion??

I was wondering...is it possible to get manual windows converted to power? What would be involved in this and how much money would we be looking at?

Save your money. You'll need new door panels to get rid of the window crank holes in each door, and to get the power window switches and make it look good. Try Ebay. Then, you'll need the power window motors (50 bux a pop at Advance, prolly 80+ at the dealership) and you'll need the springs and actuator (I think that's what it's called). No clue on how much that will cost. It's a huge pain to change the motors and it will be hard to get the actuator? and spring in (possible, just not easy, nor fun). Something else you may need to look into first, are the doors wired for the power window option on non power window cars. Yo may need to find a wire harness to wire them up. Oh, and if you're going to go to all this trouble, get power locks too. Oh well, hope some of this helped.

I've done it. It was a relatively easy job to do. To fill in the holes where the cranks used to come through the panels, I got plactic ciricle blanks from the same place I got the kit. It's obvious my car used to have manual cranks, but the blanks aren't tacky looking and match the door panels.

I spent $350 for the window kit, the switches, power door locks, a keyless entry alarm, and the needed wiring harness and relays.

http://www.a1electric.com is where I got the kit from. I've installed three of their kits now, my camaro, my '68 mustang, and my c/k pickup.

Good luck, and it's the best "mod" I've done to my car.

I agree with silvachris1, you could do it if you're willing to spend the money and take the time, but I've had enough woes with automatic windows on other cars I've had, I'm happy as can be with my manuals. Although mine does have power locks, which is a nice feature.
