Check out what $9.00 and a little hard work can get you. Beats the hell out of paying $175+ for an MTX or JL stealth. I'll post some updates once I install all of my equipment (box, amp, cap)

Ok, $9.00 sounds cheap right? The only material I bought was a 4'x8' piece of 3/4" particle board. I had some screws laying around my apt and I already had calking. I guess the catch to the $9.00 was that I already had some material. If I would have paid for everything, it probably would be more like $15-$20.

The box is enclosed and the only power tool that I used was a jigsaw.

It took me about 3 days to completely finish the box, working a couple of hours each day. This is what I did.

Day 1: I took some cardboard and made a "protype" or pattern for the real box. I basically took a hobby knife and cut each piece of the box out to fit in the rear well in the trunk. After I had all of my pieces of cardboard, I assembled the box and checked to ensure proper fit in my trunk.

Day 2: (HARDEST) I bought the wood, disassembled the cardboard box, and then traced each piece of cardboard onto the wood. Then, I took the jigsaw and cut out each piece. Then just reassembled the box with the wood instead of the particle board. This was the hard part. To get a good seal on the box I had to cut a crazy angle on almost everypiece of wood. This is very, very time consuming. I would nail two pieces together, and then check to see if it fit in the rear well of my car. Then I'd add another piece and check again, until I finally had all of the pieces together. Then I hand sanded all of the edges.

Day 3: Calked the inside and out side corners/joints of the box. Painted the box. Covered the front with a fine black material, that normally covers grills on home stereo speakers. Stapled a thick layer of cotton stuffing inside of the box to "slow down" the sound waves in the box.

I'll add some more pics of the box later today. Oh and the Audiobahn 10" was an extra $250 ha ha.

The back of the box isn't as clean as the front, but back will not be seen so it doesn't matter.

Yeah it holds a 10". If I would have planned a little better I probably could have fit a 12"

You could easily sell them for 20bucks a pop.

                      Sorry megabass.

For $20, I could only sell the cardboard pattern that I used, lol.

If you figure that it cost only $9 for material, and I worked roughly 10 hours on it over a period of 3 days......lol that's only a buck an hour. ($1.10/hr)

It's a pretty cool project if you have a little spare time, you guys should try it out. Even if your box doesn't come out just right, you'll only be out about $15 (less if you have material laying around the house).
