  • Ford Taurus Antenna Question

    Hey,

My friend's 97 Taurus Wagon had a power antenna that was just stolen. (The power part was broken, so it was stuck up, hence why it was stolen)

Can you replace that antenna with any power antenna or would doing so require re-wiring it?
Would re-wiring it be easy enough since it is already wired for a power antenna? Obiously no one wants to pay for another factory antenna, so a walmart power antenna or similar would be where he'd go.

Can you replace a power antenna with a non-power antenna? If so, how? can you just screw in the antenna and thats that?

    any info is appreciated!

Was the entire motor taken as well? Or just the antenna mast? How did they get inside the car to steal the entire motor? Some power antenna's come with a mast that just unscrews out. You can buy another one for like $10.

Just the antenna mast was stolen. It is able to unscrew.. but whomever did it just yanked the mast out basically breaking it off but they got 90% of the antenna.. is it possible to just get a mast replacement? where would we find one?

So just some vandals huh? Just out to break other peoples hard work! Well try unscrewing the remaining 10% of the mast. See if the threads or anything else is damaged. If not, a new mast should be all you need. Not really sure where you can get them. It's not the stock antenna motor is it? Don't think they had replaceable masts.... check the company's website. Or maybe just an auto parts store?
