just got it installed a few days ago, and its great.. the new '05 kenwood excelon, 5V preouts, 24bit dac, etc.. bought on ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5776935169

LOVE it. honestly sounds a lot better than any previous deck ive owned. i strongly reccomend it.

    new system pics HERE: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/766313/3

the only thing left i have to do stereo-wise is an amp to power my front stage, then im done.

Cool, Never liked kenwood though, I guess I am partial to pioneer. The auction says it 4v pre outs and you say 5v, which is it?

You have been spending some change on the stereo lately, planning on competting?

its 5. i thought it was 4 when i bought it. but it says right on the headunit, and right on the box.. 5V.. i dont really see myself competing, cuz i dont know where.. or how. but hey, im open to ideas! and this is the first thing i have ever owned kenwood.. so far so good.

Yeah, Shelley had one in her old car and trying to adjust the thing just sucked. She ended up selling it for another pioneer that she shouldn't have got rid of in the first place.

About competing, I don't think your system would be much of an sq system because of the box you are using. I would do it once just to see what kind of spl it puts out. Go to your local stereo shop(not best buy or circut city) or even you local track when they host a stereo event and just sign up. Normaly around here, if you have never done it they have you play a song of your choice and with the mic and all they figure out what freq. hits the best then they play a test tune to see if they can get more dB's out of it. Most people gain around 1 dB with the test tone.

yea see thats the thing, we dont have tracks around here where i live, or no competitions that i know of either. oh well.

what is wrong with the box that it would affect sq? sorry i dont know all the lil spl and sq stuff. short explanation?? thanks.

Most ported boxes arre designed for high spl which hurts the sq some. Also it depends on how the box it constructed, I have seen a great ported box beat a crappy sealed boxes in comps.

Holy crap, Its a 3.5 cu ft sealed box. I bet it would sound a lot better in a smaller box. I am gunna look up the specs for that sub because that sound too big. I always thought that box was ported, oh well.

Hmmm, can't find the enclosure specs any where for that sub, you have the manual?

yea, and it reccomended 2.5-4. i thought the same thing, a single 12 in a sealed box that big. but the linear compression sub needs so much damn space. anyways.. yea. where did you think the ports were?

I dunno, I never really thought about it. Thats very big for a sealed box thats not being used for anything other than daily driving. 2.5 is the min. sealed req? My box is 2.4 ported, I wouldn't want a sealed box that big unless I was running a lot of power to it.
