installing new amp.. do i have pre amps? PLEASE!!

ok guys, i've got a stock(in audio) 98 camaro, its got the regular speakers with head unit, and a 12 disc changer in back, but you cant load the cd's in front..( u know what i mean?) well i've heard sumthin about head units with amps in em or sumthin.. but ill tell ya its got some damn good quality for stock... lotsa bump. well i decided to pull out these cheap 8's outa my 82 camaro, its got an OLD and CHEAP head unit, only tape player and it had what look like AV jacks. i've obviously noticed that my 98 doesnt have those so where do i hook dose up? it also had another wire from the amp that said sumthin like amp remote start.. but ill see if itll work without it. also... if anyone has a wiring diagram for the stock head unit so i can see what wires are what that would be SWEET!! as yall can tell i dont know much about audio... i spend most of my time under the hood. any help wll be GREATLY appreciated

Lets see if I got this right. Your stock head doesnt have signal cable outputs, and you want to use an aftermarket amplifier right? If so, you will have to get an amp that accepts line level inputs, but that will kill your sq. My advice would be to get an aftermarket head unit, and take advantage of the amplifier pre-outs.
And, if you dont hook up that remote wire to a +12v source that turns on when the radio/car is running, the amp will not turn on.

ok then, where on the harness should i hook up the switch wire?

the amp says: line input- this is what was hooked up in the back of the old HU
preamp output-nothing was hooked up to this
speaker level input- i figure i could hook up the back speakers to this instead of hookin it up to HU
keep in mind this is an old amp
