  • New HU/Speakers wiring question

I plan to get a new HU and speakers to replace my monsoon system. Will I be able to use the stock wiring (/w aftermarket harnesses) or do I have to run new wires for all my speakers? I'm just planning to replace the front and rear speakers and disconnect the ones in the hatchback. The reason I want to use stock wiring is that I plan to buy the speakers first and use my stock HU for a few months before I buy a new one.

    Any thoughts?

are u going to power the speakers from the new HU ?
If so, you are prob going to have to run new wires (which i would recommend anyway) in that the wires from the old heaunit go to an amplifier in the trunk then to the speakers. If you are using new amplifiers to power your new speakers (also recommended if u have the $$) then you might be able to disconnect the wires from the stock amplifier and hook them up to the new amplifier. hope that helps.

how do you remove the factory amp/sub assembly and reconect the rear speakers. are there certain pins you have to jumper, which wires carry the signal in to the amp/ sub. i have a 96 camaro w/ bose system
