  • Memphis Subwoofers any good?

Has anyone had any experience with Memphis subwoofers? Ive heard 2 12s hit in a mazda and the top of the car would make a water bottle jump full of water. Im just wondering are they worth checking into or should i stick to 2 L7s?

memphis subs are good subs. they have some great sound quality subs. it all depends the amp u have. if u have a small amp get the sq memphis, if u have 3000 watts or more get the L7's.

btw the L7's will hit harder but cost alot more and need alot more power to push.

Id most likely be using a memphis 1000 watt amp for the memphises.

JBL 1200.1 Mono Amp for the 2 L7s. So 600 to each L7?

Also for a camaro whats better sealed or Ported? My cousin was trying to tell me this evening ported is better for hatches. I was gonna get the sealed T-top box from sub thump.

I have a ported box in my hatch and damn people wont belive me that i have (2) 10's untill i open the hatch.

Whole glass on the hatch rattles a lot when its up.

it up to your music pref. sealed has more control over subs and is a tight bass.

were ported is a booming bass and moves alot of air u can feel.

I *love* my Memphis studio 12".
I'm into the sq thing with my setup. It goes low and sounds so clear, and it's really durable [I bought mine used from a kid who used to thrash the living hell out of it].

I think the current version is called the M-class. It's essentially the same deal as the studio series. The PR series doesn't look that serious [for subs anyway], and the other ones [mojo, lvs, etc.] look seriously inhuman... I also enjoy running a sub that not everyone else has.

Ahhhh cousin got in his 2 12 M class Memphis subwoofers. He had a 1600 watt audiobahn pushin them and on his way home smoke started rollin from underneath his seat. His amp got fryed somehow.

He had them in the back of his tiburon in a ported box. AHHHHHH It was making the hatch flex a good half an inch. Box weighed a good 200 lbs. Make ya dizzy sittin inside car. Bottle was on top of truck beside his car and it was making the bottles jump on top of the truck.

Alright 1 last question. The t-top box on subthump.com would it sound alright ported or should it stay sealed?

i think that would depend on the subs and how much air they require. the memphis would need a HUGE box to be ported so the subthump should be left sealed if you are getting them.
