Who here has an amp rack? I bought a subthump one (its been in the garage for a year now at least) and well I still dont understand how i am supposed to install it. I am not usually that retarded but i want to know if you take pieces of wood *blocks* and mount them to the car, how do you mount the amp rack to that? I dont think you want to screw it all the way through it... I just dont get it. I have been looking a the instructions that come with the box and someones cardomain page and i still dont quite understand. If anyone has (another) write up, or link please let me know. thanks.

Well being that you have a firebird I don't know the inside of it, but on the Camaro you hang the blocks from the rear light screws and below the trunk lock and then screw the rack into there. What I wound up doing instead since my amp was too big for the short amprack that I purchased, I cut a piece of 3/4" plywood 12"x35" and placed that across so it would rest about a foot above the bottom of the trunk where my other amp is situated. It looks like with this install you have to fab a different type of hanger to screw the rack onto. I don't see any measurements on the pictures on the cardomain site but it doesn't look like you screw the screw into the car but enough to grab that block of wood that is attached to the anchor. I hope my interpretation helps some.95 3.4L
http://www.myspace.com/1277388
http://www.cardomain.com/profile/altspacen
http://groups.myspace.com/camarov6

I am sorry you guys have to take the time out of your day to explain to me but i feel so damn retarded.
Basically i get some blocks, not too thick and put holes in em and then use my tailight screws (thumbscrew thingies)...
ok so when you do that, do you have to screw entirely through the front of the amp rack into the blocks? I mean, dont you see the screws? I could cover that with 2 amps but i only have one I am going to use with the new speakers when i get em... i mean i could just sorta keep the other amp or something too.
I could just use about 100 strips of velcro to secure that bad boy onto my car. Definitely use screws. But don't just screw it over the carpet. Cut the carpet with an exacto knife ever so much so you can lift up the carpet. This way, you just put the carpet back over the screw and you won't notice a thing.Eclipse 8443, CDT ES-620s in doors (Clarion APX401.2), IEK, CDT 6X in rear(HU), Image Dynamics ID10v.3D.4 in stealthbox(Clarion DPX1001.2)
http://www.sounddomain.com/id/larryfirebird33
borla cat-back, FTRA, whisper lid

Hey... that is a great idea... why didnt i think of that (to cut the carpet in an x shape then screw it in to hide the screw)? My friend has been helping me too because I needed it to be explained in dummy terms. hehe1998 Silver Firebird
Basic mods... nothing real special but it sure looks good!
maleetpobanz.com
