  • connecting two wires???

alright, i but in my fog lights earier this year and the wires werent long enough so i had to cut them and get some wire to extend them. so i just twristed the wires together and but electrical tape over it. well, i think a connection came loose cause awhile ago the blue lights (it has the lights then blue effect lights) stopped working, both of them at the same time. does anyone know of a way to properly connect the wires? i know of what people use when doing electrical work on a house but is there anything water proof i could use?

There are a couple different ways you could do it. You could use a special crimp connector that you heat up (with a heat gun or from a lighter) after crimping, which shrinks to form a water tight seal. Or you could solder the wires together and use Heat Shrink Tubing to insulate and seal the connection. Autozone should sell these items.

Yeah if one of the wires are a little smaller than the other it will be okay. Just get the connectors that are made to fit the "bigger" wire. The smaller wire will obviously fit in the other end. Plus that stuff shrinks down quite a bit to form a seal.

by the way, a soldering iron is $12 at radio shack. It's not exactly a high-dollar item. Solder connections that are done properly are incredibly strong.

It's just a standard connector you crimp at both ends.
