  • Satalite Radio HELP!

Allright so the guys at best buy talked me into getting serius radio. Thats pretty much the same thing as xm radio but i like the stations better. Anyway. They dont know where to mount the antenna. They said they are going to wait until i find an antenna that mounts to glass. The top of our car isnt metal, either is the trunk hatch. So i dunno. They said it has to be on a metal surface when i asked if i could put it on my dash. I looked and there is no glass mount kits that they said exist, at least i couldnt find any. What should i do? I would have just returned this kit but its half way installed right now and they still keep telling me to not worry.

That's crap since I work at bestbuy and have installed these radios countless times over. The antenna itself is simply magnetic so that's probably where the problem is. However you could easily adhesive it to the roof of the car or wherever you wanted really. It's just a question of getting it to stick to the car. Velcro, works well if you want to install it in the interior and you could probably velcro on the exterior as well, but i'm not sure how that stuff holds up in rain.

I have my XM antenna stuck to the drivers rear quarter pannel oppisite of the radio antenna. That was the only place i could find where the magnet would stick, besides the hood.

My installer put one in a Camaro but you cant see it...

what you do is you disassemble the antenna and remove your 3rd brake light and you stick it in there.

Reception was still good with no problems and when its in there you cant see any nasty looking antennas or wires.

i have installed them on 4 camaros, sirius that is, and just ran the wire under the t top weather seals then centered it right behing the middle of the t bar on that fiberglass piece....

There is metal an inch if not less below it, so it doesnt effect it at all.... Actually I have had people ask me to put it inside thier glovebox before, and it actually worked.... I have seen someone on this board put it inside the rear spoiler and supposedly that worked also...

it does NOT have to be on a metal surface.... Just buy some 2 sided 3m weatherproof tape at wallmart or anywhere, its the one thats gray and the platic u pull off of it is red...
