• Dynamat to quiet exhaust and clearer sound

I made a post in the intake exhaust section asking if dynamating the car would make the annoying sound of the exhaust go away.
http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...&f=25&t=007065

I'm also concerned with the stereo. I have an alpine deck and alpine type S speakers. I have a JL W0 hooked up to a 700w amp. I dont seem to have the sound quality I was looking for up high. It sounds great on heavy songs but with other music (acoustic) etc it doesnt sound very loud and it distorts easily. I took it to get looked at and the guy said dynamat would be my best bet. I wasnt sure to believe him because I have a feeling i'm underpowering my speakers and that the amp in the deck is the weak point. What do you guys think? How should I dynamat my car to minimise exhaust noise and increase stereo quality? I might get new speakers too.

Sound deadener will help reduce exhaust noise. You have a 700 watt amp hooked up to a W0 . The other speakers are probaly distoring because you are powering them off the head units amp which isn't very good. Get a nice 4 channel amp and you will be set.

A w0 would blow with that much power, what kind of amp?

depends on the gain he has it on as well

I agree with the above message with factory speakers..they are horrible. Get some nice quality components sets, kind with mid and tweeter are seperate, and come with a crossover/breakout box...this will ensure, no bass is getting to the mid or tweets...run it off a nice four channel amp, and you will have nice crisp his and mids...also, is your sub in a ported/bandbass box...? seal up your sub (to manufacturors specs) and you will have cleaner bass, and it wont sound as distorted.

dynamat will lock out a little of the exhaust noise, and keep some music in, and whereever it rattles the most, is a good spot to start...I would have some one that knows what there doing, do it. It adds a bit of weight to the car as well, depending on how much you use. There are also kits, like for doors and trunks...so keep in mind what you are buying....another hint is find a place that will ship commercial sound dampening material to you, its the same thing, but a heck of alot cheaper
