jl or alpine

which company makes better subs jl or alpine? my friends have Jls but they have said alpine is the best. which one should i get?

if i was going to get the JL sub which model shouold i go with? i was thinking maybe a w3 or w6.

Depends on which models you are comparing....

Remember the W6 has dual 6 ohm coils. They are meant to run in trios. And if you are thinking about the W3, get the W3v2.

As was said, it depends what models you are comparing. I would compare a Type R Alpine to the W3. At this level and for the cost, it's hard to beat the Alpine.

But the JL line goes up from there. There's still the w6 and the V2 series. Both cost more than the Type R, but you get a little more performance. Like 96firebird311 said, I would also recommend getting the v2 if you go with the JL subs. But if you were going to keep it simple and stay withing a certain budget, hard to beat the Alpine 12' Type R at 115 bux.

Ditto. I got a complete Type R system and it sounds incredible. I paid $105 for my 10" type R and it is more than enough to keep me happy. Sounds awsome. You can't go wrong with alpine. People say to try other things but this is a sure bet. Goodluck. Either way JL and Alpine are very nice components. :cool:
